QXM-QoS

Assuring a great customer experience is a must in today's increasingly competitive environment. Service providers and enterprise communication managers alike can utilize QXM-QoS, a proactive, distributed monitoring solution, to verify voice quality in IP-based networks. It is a cost-effective, easy to install and scalable solution designed for rapid return on investment.

With a downloadable software agent, QXM-QoS sends calibrated traffic from the agent to the measurement servers. A centralized server then collects the results of these measurements and assesses service quality throughout the network. Because the agent is downloaded into the PC used by the end-user, the measurements reflect the exact quality score as experience by the user.

QXM-QoS reports:
  • Round trip delay - total time elapsed from the origin to the destination and back
  • Jitter - standard deviation of the time a packet takes to get from the source to the destination
  • Bit rate - the amount of bytes transmitted/received on a single time unit
  • Session setup time and response time - the time elapsed between the request and the response
  • Session failure rate - the ratio between the number of sessions that fail vs. the number of sessions attempted
  • Packet loss rate - percentage of packets lost for each session
QXM-QoS measurements comply with the following specifications:
  • Benchmarking terminology for network interconnection devices
    • IETF RFC 2544
    • IETF RFC 1242
  • Definition of the QoS parameter for the Internet access
    • ETSI EG 202 057-4 V1.1.1. (2005-10)‏
    • MOS: Mean Opinion Score: ITU G.107, the E-model
